There are around 600 Aboriginal tribes in Australia, but they don’t speak the same dialects or languages. There were around 250 different languages in the beginning, but when the British people colonised Australia, the Aborigines weren’t allowed to speak their own languages anymore. They got forced to speak English. Today only 15% of the Aborigines speak the mother tongue language as their first language.
